Photography’s been snapping away since the early 1800s, but it’s been a black-and-white affair for most of its timeline. Monochrome memories give us a vintage vibe, but we can’t help craving that full Technicolor experience. Well, folks, it looks like our wishes just got granted!

Over the last half-decade, Parisian digital artist Sébastien de Oliveira has been breathing new life into old photos by adding color, and let me tell you, his masterpieces will blow your socks off. In a recent chinwag with Bored Panda, Sébastien dished that colorization lets him meld his three greatest loves: painting, photography, and history. “I’m a sucker for storytelling pics. After having a blast with WW1 and WW2 snapshots, I’ve moved on to simple street scenes, chillaxed snippets of everyday life, and sprucing up portraits of Tinseltown’s glitterati,” the artist dishes. “I dig diving into all the nitty-gritty details in a photo and serving up my personal spin on things.”
