Breathing is an action that happens in our bodies without any will and it will happen continuously even if we think of it or not. We will have to force to stay without breathing and not the other way around. Breathing is not only a normal thing. It supplies Oxygen to our body that keeps us alive. Oxygen will circulate through our blood, and then will circulate oxygen to all of our vital organs, our cells, and the tissue in our bodies.

Hypoxemia is described as a situation which happens in our body when blood does not have enough oxygen.

Deborah Leader RN, BSN, PHN further revealed that “Hypoxemia can be acute, occurring suddenly because of an emergency situation, or chronic, taking place over time because of a long-term health condition like COPD,”.

There are ways to tell when your blood is not getting enough level of oxygen to avoid extreme health problems.

HERE ARE FIVE SIGNS TELLS THAT YOUR BLOOD DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH OXYGEN.

1. WEAKNESS OR DIZZINESS.

You will feel weak or dizzy if you are having a low oxygen level in your blood. This is a common sign. Most people experience dizziness or blackout in their vision when standing up too quickly. But people who do not have enough oxygen level in their blood often will have this symptom throughout the day whether he or she engages in the moderate or difficult activity.

Family physician Dr. D. Love said “The muscle can burn fuel without oxygen for a limited period of time, but it cannot be maintained indefinitely. Therefore, chronically low oxygen levels will cause muscle weakness. It would be unusual that a low oxygen level will cause muscle weakness as a sole symptom; it would be expected that there would also be shortness of breath.”

Although the blood carries out oxygen to certain parts in your body, getting weak or dizzy quickly means that blood is not carrying enough oxygen to those places.

2. FATIGUE.

If you are not getting enough oxygen to your body through blood you will be having chronic fatigue. It is a major sign. This fatigue which is associated with hypoxemia is chronic and never-ending not like that tiredness we have in day to day life.

Dr. Graham Rogers medically reviewed this symptom in an article on Healthline as, “Without the proper exchange of gases, your body can’t get the oxygen it needs. Over time, you will develop low blood oxygen levels, a condition called hypoxemia. When your body is low on oxygen, you feel tired. Fatigue comes more quickly when your lungs can’t properly inhale and exhale air.”

People often complain to be exhausted halfway through the day, and this feeling will not go away no matter how much sleep they had during the day. It is a sign that you are not getting enough oxygen to your blood if you are getting more tired quickly than others, or more quickly than you used to.

3. POUNDING OR RACING HEART.

Normally feeing of anxiety often starts with a racing or fast-beating heart. However, if your body starts to show a racing or fast-beating heart without anxiety symptoms then it is a sign that your heart is working hard to get oxygen to your body as it is not enough. The heart is looking to get more oxygen to the blood to reach all the places where it is needed.

4. SHORTNESS OF BREATH.

If you are having trouble breathing, yes it will be because you are having lack of oxygen in your blood. When you have trouble breathing, you will be having trouble to get enough oxygen to your blood system. Short of breath can be seen in people who are having lack of oxygen in their blood no matter they are engaged in moderate or difficult activities.

5. A HEADACHE AND CONFUSION.

Do you experience an unbearable headache after holding your breath? Many people experience headaches but it can be different from people to people. Sometimes people can experience severe headaches and others will have only normal headaches. Headaches are not a worrying sign that telling us that we are having a lack of oxygen in our blood. But if it happens with confusion, dizziness, and lack of coordination will be a sign that your body asking more oxygen to the blood system.

“Your brain needs a certain amount of blood flow and oxygen to run efficiently and for us to feel healthy, and if that mechanism is damaged, your brain knows other ways to generate the pressure that it needs,” says Dr. Patrick M. Nemechek.

It will be difficult to concentrate or coordinate your body that will lead to a headache and confusion if you are having lack of oxygen in your blood.

“Without enough oxygen in the lungs, the organs cannot function properly. As a result, toxins accumulate in the bloodstream and vascular headaches ensue. This happens because low oxygen levels initiate the widening of blood vessels and bring on migraines,” says Dr. Mark Wiley.

You have to be concerned about lacking oxygen in the blood because it can lead the way to other diseases or illnesses. So better see a doctor if you have any of the above signs and figure out how you can get treatment before it is too late.
