In contrast to quilting, quilling is the technique of shaping paper strips. Sena Runa is overjoyed to have the opportunity to practice this delicate craft. Also known as paper filigree, this art form involves gluing, twisting, rolling, and otherwise manipulating paper to create three-dimensional shapes — much like Runa’s favorite hearts! She makes them for the beautiful intricacies and as a way to express “I love you!”
Sena Runa is a Turkish national who formerly worked as a human resources consultant. She found quilling three years ago and began quilling professionally approximately seven months ago. “I would tell them to use their creativity,” Runa told novice quillers during an interview. “There, they may discover their uniqueness. If they attempt to imitate the works of others, their output will be limited. And they should be passionate about it; they should continue producing even when they are sleepy, or it is 6 a.m.”
