Hardy wanted to show the world that there is a human emotion in these discarded metals from machinery that had an effect on our lives at some point. That is the reason she decided to have her series make human figures to deliver the aesthetic reflection of this relationship. Her usage of stiff and hard metal pieces to mimic humans in a form where the form is being blown away in the wind is just pure artistry coming from a very creative artist.
