San Francisco-based photographer Carey Fruth posed women of varying body types on romantic flower beds for her series titled “American Beautiful,” which sought to reimagine the concept of “beauty” in America. A sexually suggestive moment in which Kevin Spacey fantasizes about one of his daughter’s friends served as inspiration for Fruth. This film was released in 1999 under the same name.

“By entering into a fantasy dream girl world and by letting go of that anxiety, they free themselves up to direct that energy they once wasted on telling themselves that they weren’t good enough to other areas of their life,” Fruth told Huffpost.
