Spongebob Squarepants is one of the most well-known cartoons shows ever made, with 256 episodes and over 20 years on the air. Many of us still remember the colorful characters from the series, and they continue to inspire artists to this day. Cartoonist Ryan Altounji recently chose to rethink Spongebob’s characters as people, and the results are incredible.
Ryan claims that watching Spongebob daily as a kid influenced the development of his artistic style. “Something about the range of the character designs and the overall mood of the program always impressed me and continues to astound me,” the artist adds. After rewatching The SpongeBob Movie for the fourth time and creating a special episode featuring the characters as people, the cartoonist claims he was inspired to recreate the characters as humans. “So, without hesitation, I grabbed my sketching supplies and began creating that image,” Ryan said.
