Renowned photographer Sandro Miller embarked on a project to pay tribute to the photographers who had influenced and molded his career. To achieve his goal, he reached out to his long-time pal and frequent collaborator, Hollywood icon John Malkovich, who readily agreed to lend his support. The result was the magnificent Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Homage to Photographic Masters series, featuring 35 reimagined renditions of iconic portraits, all featuring the actor as the subject.
Miller’s project showcases his exceptional photography skills, with each shot faithfully reproducing the original image’s lighting, ambiance, and composition. The images are so spot-on that one could easily mistake them for a Photoshop creation. What’s more impressive is that Miller meticulously recreated each portrait by conducting an individual photoshoot.
The series also highlights Malkovich’s acting prowess, as the versatile performer transformed himself into an array of characters for the collection of photographs. Miller described Malkovich as “the most brilliant, prolific person” he knows, adding that the actor’s genius is unparalleled. He further praised Malkovich’s ability to embody any mood or idea Miller suggested instantly. Their collaboration, Miller attested, was an entirely trusting and blessed process.
The Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Homage to Photographic Masters series is a remarkable testament to Miller’s photography skills and Malkovich’s exceptional acting ability. Their collaborative effort resulted in a magnificent collection of images that accurately reflects the original portraits while also adding their unique creative touch.
