In the twentieth century, photography was a unique art form. Unlike now, relatively few individuals in the previous century were regarded as excellent photographers, and even fewer had the chance to shoot prominent people. Philippe Halsman was one of those photographers who had the opportunity to capture some of the twentieth century’s most famous figures.
Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Muhammad Ali, Salvador Dali, John F. Kennedy, Albert Einstein, Alfred Hitchock, and many more were photographed by this Latvian-born photographer. Halsman’s photographs have been associated with several well-known individuals. Scroll down to see 20 of one of the greatest portrait artists in the world at work.
