Amidst many crises occurred due to coronavirus lockdown all over the world, homeschooling stands at the top. All schools in the United Kingdom are currently closed and both students and teachers have limited facilities to carry out online studies. As an attempt to keep schoolchildren on track, the British Government and BBC have launched a collaborative virtual learning program called Bitesize Daily, which is a 14-week program aimed at students from all ages.
Sir David Attenborough, the pioneering broadcaster and naturalist, will be adding “Geography teacher” to his resume, as he is joining Bitesize Daily to educate and share his unrivaled knowledge, with students. He is set to teach an interesting collection of topics including mapping the world, world’s oceans and animal behavior.
For those who don’t know him, he is that wonderful British voice behind many popular documentaries like The Blue Planet, Planet Earth and Life series. This legendary presenter is considered as a national treasure by the British.

Bitesize Daily, with aims to create fun-filled, interesting content for schoolchildren, has collaborated with over 200 teachers excelling in a range of subjects to design 14 weeks of learning materials based on the school curriculum. Alice Webb, Director of BBC Children and Education commented, “We’re proud that the BBC can bring together so many people to offer such a wide range of a support package to assist parents and children across the United Kingdom at such a challenging time.” She further added, “We said the BBC would be there for people throughout this difficult time, and we meant it. It’s important that every child is able to continue learning—and the lessons we’re broadcasting will make sure they have fun at the same time.”


Along with Geography lessons by this absolute legend, many other professionals and celebrities will be joining hands with this initiative. Manchester City star will be teaching Spanish, and renowned Professor Brian Cox is set to teach science topics such as solar system, force and gravity.
Former politician Ed Balls will share his knowledge on Finances and math, and actor Danny Dyer, a director of King Edward III, will be delivering history lessons. ‘Doctor Who’ star Jodie Whittaker will be making guest appearances on lessons, and former One Direction member Liam Payne will teach music and reading lessons for children of secondary school.

Bitesize Daily will be broadcasted on many channels including Red Button, BBC iPlayer, BBC Four and BBC Sounds.
