Squirrels belong to family Sciuridae. This name is derived from Greek ‘Skiouros’, which means “shade tail”. These animals are famous for their large, fluffy tail. There are around 270 species of rodents under the family Sciuridae. The squirrel family consists of tree squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots, prairie dogs and flying squirrels.
Different species have various body sizes. The largest set of squirrels are the four species of Oriental giant squirrels who are native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. The smallest type of squirrels is the two species of the pygmy squirrels.
I’ve never seen a baby squirrel. I am not disappointed. from r/aww
Squirrels always live closer to human populations. Honestly, wherever there are humans, there are squirrels. It doesn’t matter whether you live in a city, village, in the country, in a desert or in a forest, you’ll find squirrels as your neighbors. Villagers in tropical forests as well as the dry mixed evergreen forests keep squirrels as pets or they hunt them for food.

Normally, squirrels are hoarders. When the weather gets colder and colder, they bury lots of nuts, and they don’t always find those. Some nuts are lost and some nuts are stolen. Most of the time, squirrels lose 74% of the buried nuts. And those misplaced nuts won’t stay hidden forever. They still can feed the forest. Those lost seeds and nuts like acorns or oak nuts will transform into big large oak trees that can provide a lot of befits to the animal community.

Sadly, the majority of the nuts buried by squirrels may be stolen by food thieves (other squirrels and birds). Because of this problem, some squirrels pretend to bury food to throw off food thieves. They just pretend to bury so many nuts, but they actually bury nothing.
My wife just shot this pic of a sleepy albino squirrel from r/aww
Apart from these, squirrels are just cute: adorable and tiny but intelligent fellows. They are so innocent. Looking at their silly movements and the silly stuff they do will make you feel so happy.
