This gigantic sculpture raised from the Ground is called the ‘Sultan the Pit Pony’. Created by Mick Petts, this 650 foot long sculpture was raised to recall the ponies who were used in carrying coal between 18th and 20th centuries.

The sculpture contains around 60,000 tons of Coal commemorating the final release of these hard working ponies into the mountain-side. It earned its name after the famous pony of Penallta Pits, ‘Sultan’.More info & Photo Credits : Godly Creature.
