Nature protection was just not a reality under the Soviet Union’s reign. As a result, the Ussuri Bay was selected to be used only as a dump for old glass bottles and porcelain. On the other hand, Nature prefers order and thus returns the rubbish in the shape of millions of beautiful stones.

The bay was a no-go zone back in the day due to hundreds of shattered beer, wine, and vodka bottles. However, it has become a popular tourist attraction and a specifically protected region known as Glass Beach.
