The Volkswagen Beetle is one of automobile history’s most iconic vehicles. In an instant, practically anyone could point out the bug-shaped car — even more so if it is in its original vibrant red, brown, blue, or yellow colors.

It became such a classic that in retro and new racing games it is often included, and car modders also take a shot at tuning it up. Sadly, Volkswagen revealed that this year, after over 80 years of production, it will say goodbye to the Beetle

That doesn’t stop the iconic VW Beetle from being remembered, however. Brent Walter, a designer, and creator of a variety of things with whom Bored Panda had in contact, recently took over the famous wheel hubs of the vintage Beetle and repurposed them for his unique miniature motorcycle model.

Walter manages the production of medical devices although it’s just a hobby to create scooters and build certain items in his home shop.

“I wanted a scooter to take to VW shows. These fenders were leftover from building my car. I also wanted to practice welding the thin sheet metal panels.” Walter said.

With the Volkswagen Beetle Type 1 being a classic car, finding parts for it is surprisingly easy.
“There seems to be plenty of old Beetle fenders at swap meets,” explained Walter.

Originally built as the “people’s car,” the Volkswagen was implied quite appropriately by the title itself. For the new roads that were popping up around Germany, it was supposed to be a cheap and practical car. The vehicle was first built in the early to mid-1930s and was produced in 1938, but until the late 1940s, it was not popular.
