An album not only about music. Evan though sounds are the most important element in the music album, we must also consider the role of cover art in making it eye-catchy. Be it the fold-out gatefolds of the vinyl era, the pull-out liner notes in CD cases or the icon on a digital player, these visuals have an important role in defining how we look at a particular release. However, one Iranian streaming site, Melovaz, isn’t satisfied with how some of them appear. In fact, they’re so worried that these album covers might be a bad influence on their listeners, therefore they have decided to censor them. They have edited out all the women from the cover photos.
After getting to know about this act Twitter user Izzi posted his findings on Twitter and people have also joined to look for the most ridiculously censored albums on Melovaz. “The editing for A Star Is Born’s song Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper infuriated me the most,” said the user in an interview with Bored Panda. “They completely censored and removed Gaga but not Brad, and even did a terrible job at it. That was so unnecessary.”
