She wants to  change the perception about people with Downs’ Syndrome and she has done it by her hard work and talent. When she was born her parents were informed that she has low muscle tone and there’s nothing much that can be done about it. She had started walking when she was about 2 years old. When she was 8 years old she tried different sports and finally got into gymnastics where she excelled.

Her path was not easy but her determination and hard work made it possible. She was recognized by the special gymnastics circuit and also represented America at the first Down’s Syndrome International World Championship. Now she’s a two time world champion and after her 4th US National Championship she had entered into fashion modeling.

Chelsea had said to Forbes while speaking about her getting into fashion modeling that she had been at the top Gymnastics World for probably ten years and she still enjoys it but it’s not her entire life. That she had got some great modeling opportunities through her gymnastics and discovered that she really loved it. She has a huge part in the change in the fashion industry as she entered when it was quite down. Lisa, Chelsea’s mother is happy about the change in mentalities.

Lisa had said that it’s slowly becoming more diverse but what they typically consider diversity is usually racial or plus-size models. When it comes to models with disabilities it’s pretty rare. And that a large segment of today’s population has some form of disability-they want and deserve to be represented.

In response to what her mother said Chelsea had said that she thinks it’s hard for all models. She’s had a lot of challenges in her life and she never gave up. She has a lot of people rooting for her and a good team behind her. And that she’s a very positive person and doesn’t see things as limitations. She’s pretty stubborn and works very hard. And that the way her parents have raised her really makes her feel good about herself.

She has been featured in ‘ Teen Vogue’ and also walked in New York Fashion Week and traveled across for brand campaigns since 2016. She had said that she has always loved being in front of the camera and that’s where she got the nickname ‘showtime’. Whenever there is a camera or audience she’s at her best. She also loves to travel and her first modeling job was for H&M and she had filmed it in Havana, Cuba.

Despite her disability she has been working hard and made a name in the industry and many people out in the world with difficulties are happy about that. Many have even given her gratitude for her work and for the impact that she has made in the world. While talking about how she feels she had said that she loves it. Many times she hears it from parents of young children. And that if she can help give anyone hope that makes her very happy and proud.
